I can't believe the Knicks are actually in the Finals. I really can't. After so many years of disappointment and false starts, it's actually happening. The last time the Knicks were in the Finals was 1999 were they lost to the Spurs in five games. They could be seeing a round 2 of the last time they were in the finals. The Knicks now await the winner of the Spurs-Thunder series. Wemby or Shai. Either way, it will be a clash of styles. This year's team is different, though, and it has won 11 straight games. Kicking teams' asses in the process.
Think about those Knicks teams of the past. Willis Reed. Walt Frazier. Patrick Ewing. They all came close, but they never quite got over the hump. This team has a chance to do what those legends couldn't. They can bring a championship back to New York for the first time since 1973. That is a long time ago.
This Finals appearance is more than just basketball. The city does not rally around its teams the way it does for the Knicks. NYPD be ready if the Knicks win the championship, you will need all the help you can get.
