We do not publish house style. We publish voices. If your pitch reads like a press release or a Reddit thread or an SEO article, we will pass. If it sounds like a person with something to say, we want to hear more.

The best pieces have something on the line. An argument that could be wrong. A position that could upset someone. A subject the writer genuinely cares about. We can tell the difference between a piece that matters to its writer and one that doesn't.
Local knowledge
You don't have to be in a major market. In fact, we actively want voices from cities and neighborhoods that don't get national coverage. If you're the person who knows your scene best, we want to talk.
