The Wizards win the lottery!!
May 11th, 2026
Love the NBA playoffs and the conference finals are going to be awesome. The Wizards winning the lottery is pretty sick, and man, Ant is awesome.
Wemby’s Elbow and Ant is Clutch
Last night showed that the best series this round is Wolves vs. Spurs. In the first quarter, Wemby grabbed a rebound over Naz Reid and Jayden McDaniels and, getting harassed by the two of them, unleashed an MMA-caliber elbow to Naz Reid’s face in frustration. Wemby gets ejected for a Flagrant 2, but this Spurs team knows how to win without him. They built a ten-point lead in the fourth quarter, but the Wolves refused to go down. Ant Edwards battled against a really good Spurs team, even without Wemby, and led Minnesota to victory. The series is now tied 2-2, and it’s anyone’s game.
Will Edwards bring this physical, battle-tested team to the conference finals to play the Thunder (sorry LeBron, there’s no way the Thunder blow a 3-0 lead) or will the alien keep going and bring the Spurs to the conference finals? Either way, whoever comes out of this series will have an uphill battle to beat OKC.
7 Straight Wins
The Knicks are kicking ass, and it does not seem like any team in the East will be able to beat them. This is the best they’ve looked, and it is no fluke. When any team wins 4 straight in the playoffs, that’s not a fluke, and it’s definitely not a fluke when a team wins 7 straight. Brunson and KAT are firing on all cylinders, and this team is deep. Yes, they played a banged-up 76ers team, but that same 76ers team beat the Celtics in 7 after being down 3-1. We can commend Joel Embiid for battling, but it’s time for the Sixers to really build around that great backcourt they have.
Congrats to a great Knicks team that has been built for long-term success. Maybe this is the year. The entire country will be rooting for them if they play the Thunder in the Finals, and if they get the Spurs or Wolves, maybe this is finally the year New York gets a title.
Struggling Cal Raleigh
During the World Baseball Classic, Cal Raleigh refused to shake Randy Arozarena’s hand. Randy subsequently spoke publicly about how pissed he was, and in that moment seemed to take all the offensive energy right out of Cal. Cal proceeded to struggle in the WBC and hasn’t been able to find any momentum this season. He started the year with his timing completely out of whack, then hurt his oblique, and has just lost all the timing he was starting to get back.
We knew some regression was coming from Cal because there was no way he was going to repeat one of the best offensive catcher seasons of all time, but this is just bad. This Mariners team cannot win if Cal is one of the worst hitters in baseball. I’m holding out hope that he pulls out of this, because he’s consistently been a solid hitter, but we’ll see.
The Wizards Win!
The Wizards finally get a win. They’ve been trying to tank for years and have consistently gotten screwed in the lottery, but this is the year things changed. This draft class is going to be remembered for years to come, and anyone in the top four is a great pick that will change the direction of these franchises.
The Wizards can get AJ, or they can trade down with the Jazz and still land a franchise-changing player in Darryn Peterson. We know the Jazz have spent serious money to keep AJ in Utah going all the way back to high school, so it would be hard to see them not try to trade up and keep him around. It was pretty awesome to see the bad teams finally not get screwed by the lottery, especially with the rule changes coming. It’ll be interesting to see how teams like the Nets and Kings react. Will this lead to more teams being aggressive about trading into the top four? I think yes, and I’m excited to see the craziness this draft brings.
That’s all I got for today. See ya
